I took this cooking class from Rouxbe, and I would highly recommend it.

What’s really great about Rouxbe is that they offer more than just the Culinary Rx cooking course if you’re interested in expanding your horizons in the kitchen even more. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We’ll discuss all of that later.

First, let me take you through my experience with the Culinary Rx course.

How Does the Culinary Rx Course Work?

I first have to say that going through this class was such a fun, informative and creative experience. I didn’t know what to expect when I signed up, and I honestly didn’t know if it was going to be worth my time and money.

My expectations were exceeded.

Here’s how it works.

You have a syllabus that you follow throughout the course and you watch videos, complete tasks and you even have to send in homework sometimes! Usually, the homework is a picture and a description of a task you just completed.

The Culinary Rx Syllabus

Here’s the syllabus for Culinary Rx.  You can go to Rouxbe.com and look at the syllabuses for any of the courses.

You’ll go through a set of tasks in each unit. Usually, there’s a quiz at the end of each unit. So, pay attention! 🙂

Tasks & Homework

There are times when you have to do a task and in order to get a grade, you’ll need to submit a photo and a description. What’s awesome is that you can make your photos public and you can compare with other students who are also doing the course.

In the first photo, we were tasked with cooking garlic. We had to compare it when it was cooked at a lower temperature versus a higher temperature and what that did to the taste. In the second photo, I had to prep a cauliflower recipe. I might be a better cook now, but I’m certainly no photographer! lol

Video Lessons

The classes are done with video lessons. The videos are extremely easy to follow.

All of the Rouxbe lessons are in video format.

You can set the recipes to plant-based only.
